I have a real serious enemy by the name of motivation and I'm not really friends with motivation's sister, procrastination. I know that once I get going I am a very determined person to get things done, but it's the "getting going" part that really irritates me. I seem to waste a lot of time trying to motivate myself to do laundry and clean. I love the concept of being a wife, but the cleaning part just really stinks sometimes.

I want to have a pretty house and I absolutely LOVE to decorate. But the decorating has to come after the cleaning and growing old part. Doesn't that kind of stink too? Saving up to be able to buy things to make your house a home is one of the hardest lessons I am having to learn. I have ideas bouncing inside of my head screaming, "LET ME OUT!", but I can't. I can only focus on one idea at a time. However that does not mean that I will not get to those other ideas in the future.

I become very motivated when I read other blogs, but realize that I have to finish up my own projects first before I can begin to use the ideas from other blogs. Inside my heart is dropping a little, but at the same time I can give myself a swift kick in the rear end and say "Get your projects done and move on little lady!" Ok, I just had to add the "little lady" on there because I have my cowboy boots on today. :) Yes, the boots are out!

This weekend my parents are coming to help with some house projects. I'm super excited! My mother and I will be painting our kitchen. WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!! And although our walls will be painted I still cringe when I gaze upon all the wood in this kitchen. Don't get me wrong, I am a lover of wood. But this house is FULL of it. And it's not my favorite kind of wood either. My husband would never let me paint the wood cabinets in the kitchen but here is one of my favorite inspirational kitchen re-dos that I love to look at.

Yes, I know...AMAZING!

Need some more inspiration for some motivation to stop your procrastination??? :)

Check out the blogs on the sidebar. These gals know how to show you what's good and you may just find yourself looking for a new project!

  1. I don't personally have a lot of trouble with procrastination. My sister's and my hubby joke that we're the "Get it done yesterday Sisters!" I always think, "Never put off til tomorrow, what can be done today."

As to redo's...I've been married 11 years, living in a dormatory at a Bible College...I don't have a "nice" house, but it is home, because it's where God has us for now. I've had to learn and am still learning contentment. Godliness with contentment is great gain...I think it's because we can be at ease being's an attitude of wanting more, different things, covetousness, etc., that make us uneasy...unhappy...etc.

Just some thoughts. =) Have fun painting with your Mom...a fresh coat of paint always makes a room look a lot fresher!

  2. That is a great motto to live by! I am slowly trying to make that change, but it is a hard lesson for me to learn.

What Bible College are you at? My husband works for Barclay College in Haviland, KS as the Director of Admissions.
There is a lovely couple that is the women's dorm parents there. :)

I agree that contentment is a great state to be in. I have always been a gal who likes to keep working hard at having a beautiful house for a family to grow up in. It's always changing, always growing. My home will always be with my husband and I am completely content with that. The house I live in could use some improvements. :) But God will let us do what we can, when we can.

Thanks for the advice! And I agree...paint is wonderful!

  3. Unfortunately... I know all to well motivation and motivation's sister, procrastination! I am working on it. It's a work in progress. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

I hear you on the kitchen painting. I would LOVE to paint our cabinets... but so far it is a NO GO with my dear husband! :)

  4. I am so glad I am not the only one who would love to get the paint brush out and fix up (destroy the wood on) the cabinets! I don't think my husband will budge right now on it. :(

I know what you mean when you say "it's a work in progress". I tell myself that every day. Some days are better than others! :)
