Get Ready..Here it comes!

I am so excited for the Holidays to be here!
Thanksgiving is literally just around the corner and I can't believe the year has gone by so quickly. I love spending time with family and enjoying yummy food that for some reason isn't prepared unless it's a holiday. Am I the only one that finds that weird? I absolutely love green bean casserole, but it seems that the only time I have it is at Thanksgiving. It's a pretty simple dish and I am not sure why we don't fix it more often.
And then...after Thanksgiving...the Christmas season!!!!! (I am smiling really big right now)

I love love love Christmas!
The decorating, the traditions, the snow, spending time with family, recognizing the Reason for the Season, snuggling on the couch watching Christmas cartoons, making sugar cookies, listening to Christmas music...the list could go on and on.
This year is my husband and I's first Christmas together. Ever. We began talking to each other on Facebook on January 1st, 2010. Yes, it has been a wonderful whirlwind of a year. God has blessed us both beyond what we could have ever imagined. I am so excited to begin Christmas traditions with him that we can start together and carry on with our own little family.

Of course we are going to put a Christmas tree up and the best part is....we get to start from scratch with decorating it. We'll be able to build on it throughout the years, but we both do not own very many ornaments, so we'll be able to collect them over the years together. My husband is so excited to put up Christmas lights this year and I am excited to see them all put up. I am also going to attempt to make our own stockings and possibly a Christmas tree skirt. My mema is giving me the patterns and told me that it was really easy, so I am super excited to try it. Stockings are a big deal in my family. My husband says that stockings have never been a big deal in his family, but it is definently a tradition that I am keeping and letting us enjoy and our children in the future.

Aren't you excited about the Holidays? What are you going to do to prepare for them? Do you have traditions that you like to do?
I'd love to hear your ideas so I can build onto our tradition list. :)

  1. I honestly haven't thought about the holiday much. We've had a few other things on our plate. But company is coming for Thanksgiving and we'll probably eat with my dad....he should be going to CA with my mom, but isn't. =( Then I will be consumed with a little man's bday party...after that I'll think about Christmas.

We love decorating the tree. We like to go as a family to cut one down and I let the children help decorate. That means I don't have a perfect tree. Ornaments are bunched up and the same color bulbs are near each other, but hey, it's fun. We play Christmas music and drink eggnog to welcome in the season. This usually happens right after Thanksgiving. We'll see this year...since we have company. =)
