Grocery Budget 5/15-5/22

I love to visit The Peaceful Mom. She posts "Fun Friday Shopping Totals". Her budget for her family of six is $100 a week. She posts the items that she receives + the amounts that she spent.

I thought it would be fun to join in on the fun!

Unfortunately I decided this before I could take photos of my grocery haul, but I am going to go ahead and post my totals. :)

My plan is to grocery shop once a week or less if I can. My budget is $350 for the month. This includes any beauty/health/cleaning necessities that we may need around the house. My month actually starts around the 11th since that is when our credit card statements come up and the new one begins. I always pay the entire amount of the credit card and I budget our monthly income around when the credit cards come up due. It may not work for everyone...but it works for us! we all know I love the coupon shop. So the I will be posting my awesome couponing deals as well. This week was one of my best couponing trips.

I shop at Dillon's which is a Kroger affiliated grocery store.

This week I spent $109.66.
(If groceries were not taxed....I would feel much better about taking a few dollars off this total)

However...I saved $94.89, or 48% according to my receipt.

There were some amazing sales that matched up with many coupons I had. I also planned meals around what was on sale and what I had coupons for.

Some of what I purchased...

  •  6 boxes of General Mills cereal ranging between $1.15 and $1.50 after coupons and sale.
  • 2 bags of Baked Lays Chips for $4.75.
  • Bluebunny Ice Cream for $2.99 after coupon and sale.
  • Hillshire Farms Lunch Meat for $2.87 after sale.
  • Kraft Cheese Slices for $1.49 a package after coupons and sale.
  • Kroger Shredded Cheese for $1.39 per bag after coupons and sale.
  • Coffeemate Creamer 32 oz. for $1.69 after coupons and sale.
  • Charmin Basic Toilet Paper 18 rolls for $5.59 after coupons and sale. (Best Deal I could find since we were out of toilet paper.)

I also purchased fresh strawberries, blueberries, lemons, bananas, tomatoes, lettuce, potatoes, milk and many many more items to stock us up for the week.

Totals for the month: $109.66 out of $350
